Activities

bird watching...... walking...... cycling...... pond dipping...... exploring......

Caerlaverock Estate with its unique landscape, outstanding views, and fascinating heritage provides the ideal location for family and friends to enjoy all sorts of enjoyable activities.

Visitors looking for a peace and tranquillity, perhaps a gentle stroll along the foreshore and a moment to enjoy a meditative rest from the shelter of a strategically positioned bird hide will not be disappointed. Families will find fun exploring with both their toddlers and teenagers, while serious wildlife watchers and intrepid explorers can map out their own challenges on the estate, perhaps venturing into the wilds of our wetlands or tracking winter wildlife. Cyclists can enjoy Caerlaverock too since we're right beside the national 'Annan to Caerlaverock Cycle Route 7' which runs along parts of the B725. This minor road cuts right through the middle of the estate and if you continue on past the castle heading towards Dumfries, you will find yourself in Glencaple where a warm welcome awaits in our quayside Tea Room and Village Shop. We've bird watching at its best and also various sporting opportunities for those wishing to try something a bit different.
