where the unique balance of agriculture, wildfowling and conservation brings people and wildlife together for the benefit of both."

Arts & Crafts

Caerlaverock's beautiful location, its stunning scenery and its wildlife provide inspiration to many  artists and craftspeople. Artists, weavers and potters have over the years, reflected their experiences of Caerlaverock through their work and we currently have a number of artists living on the estate who enjoy interpreting their lives through their paintings and drawings.

Caerlaverock Tea Room and Shop is playing a significant role in promoting local arts and crafts and is currently running a small selling exhibition of the work of local wildlife artist Keith Brown. We are also selling jewellery made by Dave Buoy.

Keith Brown

Summer SunKeith, whose stunning paintings of wild fowl are featured here, has lived in Glencaple for most of his life.  Although his background is in civil engineering he has skilfully managed to transfer his technical skills into his art and the results are impressive. He has always been drawn to natural history and is constantly intrigued by the ever changing light over the Nith Estuary, the ebb and flow of the tides and by the soaring and swooping of the thousands of migratory birds who populate his favourite corner of the UK.

Keith's work, which includes some of the pictures illustrated here, is currently for sale in the Tea Room and Shop.

Other artists

We are interested in hearing about other artists and craftspeople who may be living in the Caerlaverock area so do contact us if you have work you would like us to consider for exhibition/sale.
