Dumfries and Galloway Cainine Rescue CentreDumfries and Galloway Canine Rescue CentreThe Dumfries and Galloway Canine Rescue Centre is situated on the Caerlaverock Estate and is widely recognised for its valuable role in rescuing and re-homing dogs. It serves all of Dumfries and Galloway and when space permits, accepts dogs from England and Northern Ireland to save them from being destroyed.  About 350 dogs are taken in by the centre each year. Some find local homes while others have found happy homes in places as far flung from Dumfries as Orkney and Dorset.

As well as re-homing dogs the centre occasionally takes them in for a short period if the owner is ill or in hospital. Staff are also very involved in all sorts of fund raising activities which are necessary to keep the centre going.  The centre's team welcome group visits to the kennels but also enjoy visiting schools and local organisations where they deliver fascinating talks about the work they do to help dogs have happy, secure and healthy lives.

Dumfries and Galloway Canine Rescue CentreLady Mary Mumford who owns Caerlaverock Estate is Patron of the Canine Rescue Centre. She is a great dog lover herself and takes an active interest in everything that goes on at the centre throughout the year.
