"Caerlaverock -
where the unique balance of agriculture, wildfowling and conservation brings people and wildlife together for the benefit of both."

Roe Deer

Caerlaverock's carefully managed habitat is home to many mammals. They enjoy the shelter and cover offered by the woodland along with the varied sources of food at different times of the year.

Roe deer, foxes, badgers, red squirrels, stoats and weasels thrive particularly well in the woodland habitat and patience is often rewarded for those to sit quietly and wait.... ..

Porpoises -  marine mammals, have also been spotted recently in the Nith swimming up and down along the quayside at Glencaple.
