Nature Tourism at Caerlaverock

Nature Tourism

Nature at CaerlaverockNature tourism has been a fact of life on Caerlaverock Estate since the 1950s. Conservation has underpinned the management of the entire estate since then. Caerlaverock is internationally recognised for the pioneering role it has played in encouraging visitors to encounter the rarities of our particular natural world at first hand.

Our experiential tourists are interested in a diversity of natural and cultural resources. With bird watching, photography, historical research, archaeology, walking, fishing and cycling on hand, our visitors can immerse themselves in a wide range of natural, cultural and historical pursuits. Furthermore, the estate is fully accessible to visitors all year round, enabling them to appreciate all the sights and sounds of the seasonal rhythms of the Caerlaverock year.

With so many activities on offer to our visitors, there are obvious benefits to our local economy. Our long term ethos of conservation creates additional incentive to our community who are also engaged in conserving their environment for wildlife and wildlife enthusiasts.
